Lilliputian Landscapes

Completed in 2002, these images were created at a time when photography was getting, literally, bigger and bigger. Gargantuan, sofa sized prints became the norm whereas smaller, more intimate images were out of fashion and overlooked. These photographs, in both size and nature, invite the viewer to get close and consider the details that give a landscape its texture, its identity. They were shot in the west of America, from White Sands, New Mexico to the Umpqua Dunes in Oregon.

These images were made with a Holga and hand printed on Ilford silver gelatin paper. They are 4 ½ inches square.
